Who Needs to Know? Handling Sensitive Employee Information

When does a need to know become knowing too much?

Employers sometimes need to deal with highly personal information about their employees. Whether it's a workplace complaint, an investigation, a medical condition or a personal circumstance affecting someone's work, knowing what information to collect and who it can be shared with isn't always straightforward.

In this session, we'll explore the privacy challenges of handling sensitive employee information, including confidentiality during workplace investigations, managing health information, and balancing the rights and interests of everyone involved.

Through practical examples, we'll look at how employers can make informed decisions about collecting, using and sharing employee information without overstepping privacy boundaries.
